Overview
UNDP invites applications for the position of Social Media and Multimedia Intern within the Decarbonization and Sustainable Energy team, based remotely with reporting to the office in New York, USA. This full-time internship is open to postgraduate students, recent graduates, or those enrolled in relevant academic programs, focusing on enhancing digital engagement and multimedia storytelling to promote sustainable energy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Create engaging graphics, short videos, animations, and campaign assets for platforms like LinkedIn, X, YouTube, and Instagram.
- Support planning, scheduling, and analytics to optimize social media outreach.
- Assist in implementing campaigns for international days, events, and advocacy on sustainable energy.
- Draft compelling social media copy, web content, and outreach materials.
- Develop fact sheets, toolkits, and key messages tailored for diverse audiences.
- Support internal and external communication efforts with clear, audience-specific content.
- Support the production and editing of videos, interviews, and event highlights.
- Use tools such as Premiere Pro, Canva, and other editing platforms to develop visual storytelling content.
- Prepare storyboards, captions, and subtitles for digital videos.
- Design visual assets, including infographics, flyers, and branded digital materials.
- Maintain visual consistency aligned with UNDP branding across all digital outputs.
- Assist in updating the team’s website with news, publications, and event content.
- Organize and maintain digital asset libraries with proper tagging and file management.
Requirements
- Enrolled in or recent graduate of a postgraduate degree or final-year bachelor’s in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Journalism, or related fields.
- Proven experience in creating multimedia content for social media and marketing campaigns.
- Portfolio demonstrating graphic design, branding, and motion graphics skills.
- Familiarity with social media management tools (Hootsuite, Buffer, Trello).
- Experience with website content management systems (WordPress, Drupal) is advantageous.
- Video editing and motion graphics skills are highly desirable.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Fluency in additional UN languages such as French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, or Chinese is an asset.
