Action Against Hunger Nigeria is currently seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Community Mobilization Officer. The successful candidate will support the implementation of community mobilization activities within the Nutrition and Health project. This includes the Tom Brown initiative. The role focuses on strengthening relationships with local communities and increasing participation of community members across project activities. Additionally, it ensures inclusion across different ethnicities, religions, genders, and age groups.
The Community Mobilization Officer will support the Nutrition and Health team in planning and implementing community mobilization and sensitization activities at the Local Government Area level. Responsibilities include supporting community level interventions, monitoring and evaluation of nutrition and health programs, and facilitating training for community volunteers and CHIPS agents. The officer will also strengthen collaboration between health facilities and community structures. The role also involves establishing and supervising care groups, supporting capacity building activities, and ensuring effective reporting, coordination, and documentation of project activities.
The position requires building strong relationships with community leaders, religious leaders, ward development committees, and government stakeholders. This ensures effective community participation and program sustainability. The officer will also support data management, reporting, and coordination of project monitoring activities. This includes baseline and end line assessments.
Applicants must possess a Bachelor Degree in Health Education, Community Development, Sociology, Psychology, Communications, or a related social science field. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in community mobilization, particularly within humanitarian or development programs. Experience in Nutrition, Health, or WASH interventions is considered an advantage.
The position is based in Nguru, Yobe State, and requires strong communication skills and teamwork. Additionally, it requires the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities. Fluency in English is required, while knowledge of Hausa or Kanuri will be an added advantage.
