    In Nigeria, the British Council plays a key role in supporting the rapidly growing creative sector, collaborating with government institutions and stakeholders to promote arts, culture, and innovation. The organisation is also preparing for the UK–Nigeria Season of Culture 2028, aimed at strengthening long-term cultural relations and creative exchange.

    Role Purpose:
    The Arts Programme Manager will support the Head of Arts in delivering the British Council Nigeria’s Arts and Culture portfolio. The role involves leading programme implementation, ensuring compliance with organisational standards, managing teams and partners, and contributing to strategic planning and partnerships.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Programme Management:

    • Lead planning and implementation of multiple arts and culture programmes
    • Ensure delivery aligns with timelines, budgets, quality, and impact targets
    • Monitor progress and manage risks effectively
    • Oversee programme closure and evaluation processes

    Leadership & Team Management:

    • Supervise and support project teams across multiple locations
    • Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance work environment
    • Deputise for the Head of Arts when required

    Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Manage relationships with partners, government bodies, and creative sector stakeholders
    • Represent the organisation at events and sector engagements

    Business Development:

    • Identify funding opportunities and partnerships
    • Support proposal development and income generation initiatives

    Compliance & Risk Management:

    • Ensure adherence to safeguarding, financial, and operational policies
    • Manage procurement, contracts, and partner accountability

    Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL):

    • Support development of results frameworks and evaluation plans
    • Lead reporting, data analysis, and impact storytelling

    Financial Management:

    • Manage programme budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting
    • Ensure proper financial controls across all activities

    Requirements:

    Essential:

    • Degree in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, or related field
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in arts and culture programme management in Nigeria
    • Experience managing complex programmes and diverse stakeholders
    • Strong project management, financial, and reporting skills
    • Knowledge of compliance frameworks and risk management

    Desirable:

    • Master’s degree in a related field
    • Over 5 years’ experience in programme management
    • Knowledge of the UK creative sector
    • Experience with large-scale cultural programmes or festivals

    Additional Information:

    • Applicants must have the legal right to work in Nigeria
    • No visa sponsorship is available
    • Candidates outside Abuja will be supported with relocation
