Overview

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is recruiting for the position of Legal Adviser 2 based in Abuja, Nigeria. The role involves providing legal guidance on international humanitarian law, international human rights law, Nigerian national law, and other relevant legal frameworks to support the ICRC's operations in Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

Provide legal guidance on international humanitarian law, international human rights law, and other relevant international legal frameworks.
Advise on Nigerian national law and legal matters linked to the delegation’s operations.
Analyze developments in national and international legal frameworks.
Contribute to strategies that address humanitarian and legal challenges in Nigeria.
Build and maintain professional networks with Nigerian federal government authorities, civil society organizations, legal institutions, and the Nigerian Bar Association.
Conduct legal research and analysis.
Draft legal notes and reports.
Contribute to the development of policy and legal frameworks supporting the implementation of humanitarian law.
Support the dissemination of international humanitarian law and human rights law through seminars and workshops.
Represent the delegation in meetings with partners.
Contribute to strengthening legal dialogue with national stakeholders.

Requirements

University degree in law.
Master’s degree or specialization in public international law, international humanitarian law, or international human rights law.
Three to five years of relevant professional experience.
Admission to the bar or experience in the legal or judicial sector is an advantage.
