    Overview

    The World Health Organization (WHO) is seeking a Consultant - Health and Peace to support the Global Health and Peace Initiative (GHPI). This role involves providing technical expertise, operational inputs, and strategic coordination to advance the GHPI roadmap globally.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Developing and refining technical guidance, methodologies, and policy frameworks for GHPI implementation.
    • Designing and leading high-level consultations with key stakeholders.
    • Contributing to the development of a comprehensive GHPI Handbook.
    • Conducting desk reviews, collecting case studies, and producing analytical reports to demonstrate the impact of health and peace initiatives.
    • Developing technical materials to support fundraising efforts, including drafting proposals and investment cases.
    • Co-designing training curricula, organizing webinars, workshops, and awareness campaigns.
    • Coordinating efforts across WHO regions to share lessons learned and harmonize approaches.
    • Developing methodologies, tools, and policy options to embed health and peace concepts into WHO’s strategic planning.

    Requirements

    • An advanced university degree (Master’s level or higher) in social or political sciences, diplomacy, international relations, public health, or related fields.
    • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in health and peace, public health programming, peacebuilding, conflict analysis, and humanitarian response.
    • Experience working with peacebuilding initiatives, conflict sensitivity, or “do no harm” approaches in health sectors is highly desirable.
    • Knowledge of the UN Peacebuilding Fund and fundraising mechanisms for peacebuilding activities is advantageous.
    • Strong knowledge of the UN’s sustaining peace agenda.
    • Excellent research, writing, and proposal development skills, with experience in monitoring and evaluation.
    • Applied conflict sensitivity and “do no harm” principles in health programming.
    • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work proactively and independently under tight deadlines.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with diplomatic tact, political awareness, and cultural sensitivity.
    • Essential: Expert knowledge of English.
    • Desirable: Intermediate knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).

    Benefits

    Remuneration package aligned with WHO standards: USD 7,000 to 9,980 per month (Band level B). Travel costs will be covered separately.
