Billing Operations Lead @Instacart

Overview

The Billing Operations Lead oversees and optimizes the end-to-end billing lifecycle across all Instacart Marketplace retailers, ensuring accurate invoicing and compliance with financial controls. This remote role collaborates closely with various teams to drive accuracy and scalability in billing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage billing portfolios to ensure accurate operations and timely month-end closes.
• Develop and maintain billing policies, SOPs, and quality standards; resolve discrepancies in partnership with other teams.
• Build dashboards and KPIs for tracking billing health to enable continuous improvement.
• Scope and deliver billing system enhancements and automation opportunities.
• Enforce internal controls and mentor junior team members as part of scaling billing operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Billing Operations, Order-to-Cash, or Accounts Receivable in technology or ecommerce environments.
• 2+ years leading cross-functional billing projects from requirements through UAT and launch.
• Experience with Salesforce CPQ and at least one billing platform (e.g., Zuora, Chargebee).
• Proficiency in Excel and basic SQL for data analysis.
• Familiarity with billing controls and revenue considerations (e.g., ASC 606).
