Overview

Elastic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch team. The role focuses on enhancing the shared platform functionalities of Elasticsearch, ensuring ease of use, performance, maintainability, and security.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to large, impactful projects evolving the core infrastructure of Elasticsearch.
• Enhance developer productivity by identifying automation opportunities and integrating applications into workflows.
• Design and implement new horizontally-scalable features and APIs in Elasticsearch.
• Troubleshoot performance and concurrency issues, proposing effective solutions.
• Improve the operation and observability of Elasticsearch cloud systems.
• Collaborate publicly with the Elasticsearch team, users, and supporting open-source projects.
• Support engineers with complex issues and lead operational investigations until resolution.

Requirements

• Experience crafting APIs and understanding tradeoffs.
• Proficiency in algorithms and data structures.
• Strong skills in core Java, including knowledge of concurrency and standard library constructs.
• Experience with CI/CD systems and practices.
• Capability to lead large-scale projects across engineering teams.
• Proven track record of using AI for development and debugging.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and transit between different projects.
• Strong autonomous work ethic with effective communication skills.
