Overview

The role involves a Senior Software Engineer position focused on Elasticsearch within Elastic, the Search AI Company. The team is dedicated to enhancing the core platform functionalities of Elasticsearch to ensure usability, performance, maintainability, and security.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to large-scale projects evolving the core infrastructure underpinning Elasticsearch.
• Enhance developer productivity by identifying automation opportunities and integrating applications into workflows.
• Design and implement new horizontally-scalable features and APIs.
• Address complex issues, including performance and concurrency challenges.
• Improve the operation and observability of Elasticsearch cloud systems.
• Collaborate openly with the ES team, Elastic users, and supporting open-source projects.
• Assist support engineers with complex problems.
• Manage operational investigations end-to-end until issues are resolved.

Requirements

• Experience in crafting APIs and understanding design trade-offs.
• Proficient in algorithms and data structures.
• Strong skills in core Java, as well as concurrent programming and standard data structures.
• Experience with low-level Java concepts, including concurrency and parallelism.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems and practices.
• Capability to lead large-scale projects across engineering teams.
• Ability to manage projects from design through development.
• Proven track record of utilizing AI to enhance development and debugging processes.
• Skill to collaborate across functions and transition between diverse projects based on priorities.
• Ability to work autonomously and drive decisions in a distributed team environment.
