Acumen is currently recruiting a Data & Technology Manager for its East and West Africa operations.

Role Overview

The Data & Technology Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the technology systems that support the programmatic Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework under the Green RISE Africa initiative.

The role involves managing a complex technology stack that includes Salesforce (as the primary grants and impact management system), FormAssembly, Google Suite, and AI-powered tools. The position requires strong technical expertise in data systems, software solutions, and emerging AI applications.

The manager will work closely with the Impact Manager (MEL) and collaborate with regional and UK-based teams to ensure effective data-driven decision-making and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

1. MEL Framework Implementation

Manage and improve the Green RISE Africa technology stack
Support MEL framework implementation, including data collection, management, and reporting
Develop automated reporting systems, dashboards, and visualizations for stakeholders
Integrate financial and impact data in collaboration with the Finance team

2. Data Management & Governance

Ensure accurate and up-to-date data across grants management systems
Enforce data protection, consent, retention, and compliance standards
Integrate multiple data sources into unified MEL reporting systems
Serve as the primary contact for impact data requests

3. Knowledge Management & Learning

Develop internal knowledge management systems
Support program evaluations and ensure high-quality data availability
Work with insights teams to manage qualitative and quantitative data

4. Capacity Building & Training

Train staff and partners on technology tools for MEL implementation
Develop training materials and capacity-building sessions
Support partner organizations in improving reporting systems
Conduct site visits and monitor data quality across partners

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum of 8 years’ experience in data systems, MEL platforms, or technology management
At least 3 years of experience managing MEL databases and reporting tools
Strong expertise in Salesforce configuration and administration
Experience in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) for multi-country programs
Strong data analysis and data visualization skills
Experience with AI tools for MEL and data systems
Knowledge of tools such as Power BI, Airtable, and similar platforms
Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
Strong understanding of data governance and compliance frameworks
