Overview

As Harvey's founding Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy, you will build the function responsible for how Harvey engages with governments and institutions shaping the future of AI in legal and professional services, both in the US and globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Build Harvey's government affairs and public policy function, establishing strategy and stakeholder relationships to position Harvey as a credible voice in AI policy.
• Own the policy relationship landscape by maintaining direct relationships with policymakers, regulators, and other key institutions across the US and internationally.
• Develop Harvey's policy narrative in partnership with senior leadership, shaping public positioning on AI governance and access to justice.
• Cultivate collaborative relationships with policymakers, advocating for positions that align with Harvey’s product strategy and the legal profession's interests.
• Serve as a strategic link between external policy environments and Harvey's product teams, identifying compliance requirements and ethical questions related to AI.
• Build and lead a team, establishing operational infrastructure for stakeholder tracking, regulatory monitoring, and policy management.

Requirements

• A career with progressive depth in public policy, government affairs, or regulatory work, ideally with a J.D.
• A policy-first orientation, focusing on educating policymakers instead of mere lobbying.
• Proven ability to build a function and set a strategy from the ground up.
• Deep relationships with senior government and institutional stakeholders across various jurisdictions.
• Familiarity with the legal and regulatory environment relating to AI and legal services.
• Bipartisan credibility and the ability to work across political environments.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for high-stakes environments.
• Principled judgment in complex situations, able to develop clear positions on challenging questions.
