Overview

The Director of Editorial, Axios Live will oversee editorial content, event framing, and strategic list building for Axios Live programming, leading a small team to uphold Axios' editorial standards, Smart Brevity style, and journalistic integrity across various materials and events.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the drafting, editing, and approval of public-facing live event materials.
• Curate and tier editorial participants for Axios Roundtables, ensuring balanced perspectives.
• Lead, coach, and manage a high-performing team of editorial writers and coordinators.
• Manage coverage assignments for Axios Live’s significant events like the Summit.
• Handle day-of editorial coverage for live events, serving as a liaison with reporters.
• Align with various teams to ensure seamless event execution and brand alignment.
• Manage real-time editorial flow during live events.
• Guide the team in using approved AI tools for research and concept brainstorming.

Requirements

• 6–8+ years of experience in journalism, editorial editing, or public policy/media.
• Proven people management experience in a fast-paced newsroom.
• Strong editorial and news judgment with knowledge of policy and business trends.
• Expertise in room curation and list strategy.
• Experience with commercial partnerships while maintaining editorial independence.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to produce concise recap articles.
• Strong organizational skills to manage overlapping deadlines.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted research and editing tools.
• Ability to travel for major events as needed.
