    Role Overview

    The Multimedia Associate works closely with Fortify Rights’ Creative Media and Country Teams to produce high-impact multimedia content. This includes films, photography, audio, and digital storytelling projects aimed at documenting and exposing human rights violations.

    Beyond production, the role also supports capacity-building efforts, helping human rights defenders and affected communities use multimedia tools for advocacy.

    Key Responsibilities

    Multimedia Production

    • Produce and edit investigative films, photo exhibitions, and audio content
    • Develop scripts, storyboards, captions, and narrative frameworks
    • Create motion graphics and multimedia packages for online distribution

    Human Rights Investigations

    • Conduct investigations into human rights violations
    • Translate findings into compelling multimedia storytelling
    • Ensure content aligns with international human rights and humanitarian law

    Media & Communications Support

    • Prepare multimedia materials for news outlets and public campaigns
    • Deliver high-quality visual and audio assets for external use
    • Support storytelling for advocacy campaigns and events

    Training & Capacity Building

    • Facilitate workshops for human rights defenders and communities
    • Train partners in multimedia storytelling and communication tools
    • Develop materials to support events and advocacy initiatives

    Collaboration & Reporting

    • Work with development teams on fundraising and monitoring efforts
    • Contribute to reporting, evaluation, and impact tracking
    • Support translation and interpretation of research materials

    Qualifications and Requirements

    Education & Experience

    • Degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience
    • Proven experience in multimedia production (film, photography, audio)
    • Background in human rights, journalism, or advocacy preferred

    Technical Skills

    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
    • Skills in filming, editing, sound recording, and motion graphics
    • Basic animation knowledge is an advantage

    Additional Competencies

    • Strong attention to detail and storytelling ability
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
    • Familiarity with human rights issues, especially in:
      • South Asia
      • Southeast Asia
      • Ukraine / Eastern Europe
    • Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus)
