The Interim Senior Engineering Manager will lead multiple engineering teams in the Trainline Partner Solutions Team, which powers technology behind their white label retailing product and Digital Pay as You Go product.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multiple engineering teams, supporting growth through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
• Own end-to-end delivery across white label and DPAYG products, ensuring effective execution with measurable impacts.
• Partner closely with Product, Data, and Commercial stakeholders to define roadmaps aligning technical delivery with business outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership across IT Solutions, clarifying system interactions, APIs, and data flows.
• Drive alignment across cross-team dependencies for coordinated prioritisation and execution.
• Champion engineering best practices, promoting high-quality, scalable, and resilient systems.
• Ensure operational excellence with strong technical health, monitoring, and incident management.

Requirements

• Significant experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex, multi-team initiatives in a B2B platform environment.
• Strong track record in building and developing high-performing teams.
• Confidence in operating across technical, product, and commercial domains to deliver business impact.
• Ability to provide clarity and direction in fast-moving or ambiguous environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working with distributed systems or microservices architectures.
• Experience managing managers or leading multiple teams is ideal.
• Understanding of the UK rail industry, travel distribution platforms, or white label B2B products is beneficial.

Location
