    Position Overview

    Welthungerhilfe is seeking an Expert Emergency Response in Finance to support and strengthen its humanitarian operations through the development, coordination, and implementation of emergency response interventions in fragile and crisis-affected contexts.

    The role focuses on administration and finance, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and organizational standards.

    The position is part of WHH’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), a globally deployable pool of humanitarian experts supporting emergency operations worldwide.

    This is a home-based, part-time role (60%), with significant international deployments to support emergency response operations in the field. The contract duration is until December 31, 2028, with immediate filling.

    Responsibilities

    • Contribute to the strategic development of WHH’s emergency response portfolio
    • Manage and monitor project budgets, financial planning, and administrative processes in compliance with donor and organizational requirements
    • Support country teams and partner organizations in finance, administration, compliance, and emergency response-related matters

    • Conduct financial monitoring, reviews, and risk assessments to ensure accountability and proper use of funds
    • Support the development of donor proposals, reports, and funding opportunities focusing on finance
    • Represent WHH in relevant coordination forums, networks, and stakeholder meetings

    • Design and facilitate training, workshops, and capacity-sharing activities related to emergency response, administration, and finance
    • Collaborate with head office, country offices, and international partners in multicultural environments
    • Maintain readiness for rapid emergency deployments within 48 hours and support field operations globally for up to 3 months when required

    Candidate Profile

    • University degree in humanitarian assistance, international development, business administration, finance, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience
    • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in humanitarian emergency response, especially in fragile or conflict-affected contexts
    • Proven experience in project cycle management, budgeting, financial management, and donor compliance

    • Experience working with institutional donors and managing grants according to donor regulations
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work independently in dynamic settings
    • Experience supporting or coordinating local partners in multicultural teams

    • Knowledge of security management, emergency preparedness, and rapid response mechanisms is advantageous
    • High flexibility and willingness to deploy globally at short notice, including field assignments of up to 3 months in challenging environments
    • Awareness and interest in data-informed approaches
    • Proficiency in English and French; German and additional languages are a plus
