Overview

The Legislative Counsel at Instacart will engage with the regulatory landscape affecting gig economy platforms, ensuring compliance and shaping the regulatory conversation as it pertains to Instacart's operations. The role is integral to the organization as it helps mitigate operational risks through comprehensive legal analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate regulatory responses across teams ensuring well-analyzed legal perspectives on legislative matters affecting operations.
• Complete a comprehensive review of legislation impacting gig economy participants and deliver actionable legal guidance.
• Develop and document legal frameworks and compliance best practices for navigating evolving legislative requirements.
• Manage relationships with external counsel, trade associations, and industry partners to contribute to regulatory conversations.
• Build and share expertise in emerging areas of law relevant to Instacart's business.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
• 3+ years of experience practicing law.
• Ability to synthesize, analyze, and provide precise legal advice based on legislative updates.
• Experience working with legislative bodies or in regulatory matters.
• Success in supporting compliance initiatives and executing legal frameworks.
• Understanding of legislative processes and the regulatory landscape.

Benefits

Instacart provides competitive compensation and benefits. The role is eligible for a new hire equity grant as well as annual refresh grants. Specific compensation for this role in Canada is between $185,000 — $195,000 CAD.

Location

This is a remote position available only to residents of Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, or Nova Scotia.
