Machine Learning Engineer II, Ads - Response Prediction @Instacart

Overview

As a Machine Learning Engineer II at Instacart, you will collaborate with senior engineers and product leaders to develop and improve the company's ads systems. You will apply machine learning techniques to enhance areas such as ads selection, ranking, bidding, and auction.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning solutions including data pipelines and model architectures.
• Formulate ambiguous modeling problems from first principles and translate business insights into clear ML research directions.
• Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and infrastructure engineers to understand business needs.
• Refine and advance algorithms and models to improve operational efficiency.
• Publish and present internal findings and contribute to the team's technical rigor.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduate degree (masters or PhD) in machine learning, statistics, computer science, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills and experience with data manipulation and machine learning tools.
• Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of industry experience in applying machine learning to large datasets.
• Knowledge of sequential modeling and Transformer architecture.
• Familiarity with LLM integrations and productivity tooling.
• Experience in building large-scale online recommendation systems.

Benefits

Instacart offers highly competitive compensation and benefits. This role is remote, with a base pay range for successful candidates between $154,000 — $162,500 CAD, depending on location and experience.

Location

This role is remote and limited to candidates located in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, or Nova Scotia, Canada.
