Manager, Software Engineering - AI Observability @Figma

Overview

The Engineering Manager for Observability at Figma will lead a team focused on building systems that provide insight into the platform and its AI products in production. This position is key to developing observability capabilities, including a growing AI observability pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a 6 engineer team responsible for Figma's observability and AI observability platforms.
• Own the AI observability ecosystem, aggregating data to measure and improve AI features.
• Manage Figma's core observability stack, ensuring data quality and service availability.
• Set technical strategy for monitoring across services and implement instrumentation standards.
• Explore AI-driven approaches for anomaly detection and operational automation.
• Collaborate with various teams to provide visibility into system health and cost efficiency.
• Coach engineers through career growth and foster a culture of high-quality execution.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience leading engineering teams in infrastructure, observability, platform, or AI systems.
• Strong foundation in distributed systems and a platform mindset.
• Hands-on experience in observability and AI systems telemetry.
• Familiarity with tooling such as Datadog, OpenTelemetry, and Prometheus.
• High operational standards with the ability to drive alignment in complex environments.
