Manager, Software Engineering - Data Platform @Figma

Overview

Figma is seeking a Manager for its Software Engineering team focusing on the Data Platform. This role involves leading engineers to scale the data platform and collaborating broadly across the company to support data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of engineers building Figma's data platform, focusing on delivery, technical direction, and team health.
• Set the roadmap and technical strategy for the sub-area, providing hands-on technical leadership as needed.
• Drive the reliability and scalability of the platform in response to growing adoption.
• Hire, coach, and develop engineers and tech leads to build a high-performing team.
• Collaborate with Data Science, Product, Finance, and Engineering to drive alignment on priorities.
• Make informed build versus buy decisions, managing vendor relationships where applicable.
• Maintain predictable delivery while balancing execution and long-term platform investments.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience managing engineers, with a track record of building and scaling high-performing teams.
• Experience in building and scaling data platforms or infrastructure in a production online environment.
• Strong software engineering background with sufficient technical depth to guide the team.
• Ability to manage cross-functional stakeholder groups and effectively communicate under ambiguity.
