Overview
The Wyss Academy for Nature at the University of Bern invites applications for a PhD position focused on climate extremes and public opinion within the Environmental Governance and Global Development team.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute actively to WP4 of NCCR CLIM+ research projects
- Conduct original research relevant to the PhD dissertation
- Disseminate research findings through conferences, workshops, and academic publications
- Support academic activities, including administrative tasks and potential teaching responsibilities
Requirements
- Master’s degree in political science, communication, psychology, economics, environmental studies, or related social sciences
- Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods (survey design, content/media analysis, experimental methods)
- Experience with social network analysis
- Basic programming skills in R, Python, or similar; AI/ML experience is advantageous
- Demonstrated intercultural sensitivity with international experience
- Fluency in English (written and oral); proficiency in German and/or French is a plus
- Creative, team-oriented, and passionate about environmental issues
- Able to work independently in a multidisciplinary environment
- Professionalism and integrity in stakeholder engagement
