Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join their Elasticsearch - Distributed Systems team. This role focuses on enhancing scale, performance, and resilience, particularly within their Serverless offering.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing, building, and operating core parts of the next-generation Serverless Elasticsearch offering.
• Improving components for concurrent and consistent indexing across machines.
• Maintaining cluster coordination systems to optimize performance.
• Addressing performance and concurrency issues and proposing effective solutions.
• Supporting engineers in troubleshooting complex problems.
• Managing end-to-end operational investigations related to performance or stability.

Requirements

• Deep background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
• Strong skills in core Java and a solid understanding of data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Technical proficiency in algorithms and experience building large-scale distributed systems.
• Ability to manage projects involving multiple engineers and collaborate across different teams.
• Proven track record of utilizing AI to enhance development processes.
• Capacity to work autonomously and drive results in a distributed team environment.
