Elastic, the Search AI Company, helps organizations find answers in real time with their data, at scale. They are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join their Elasticsearch - Distributed Systems team, focusing on scaling, performance, and resilience in their Serverless offering.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and operate core pieces of the next-generation Serverless Elasticsearch offering.
• Improve components that support concurrent and consistent indexing across multiple machines.
• Maintain cluster coordination systems to ensure high performance.
• Address performance or concurrency issues and propose solutions.
• Support engineering teams with complex issues.
• Manage operational investigations until issues are resolved.

Requirements

• Deep background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
• Strong skills in core Java and familiarity with data structures and concurrency.
• Technical proficiency in algorithms.
• Experience building large-scale distributed systems.
• Ability to own projects from design to completion.
• Experience managing projects with multiple engineers.
• Track record of using AI to improve development and optimize code.
• Strong collaboration and autonomous working skills.
