Elastic, the Search AI Company, seeks a Principal Software Developer to join the Elasticsearch Security team. The role focuses on leading the architecture and design of key features related to security, including authentication and authorization in Elasticsearch.

Key Responsibilities

• Own core security initiatives from architecture to production, focusing on critical feature delivery.
• Develop the foundational security models for intricate features.
• Optimize security performance at scale in distributed systems environments.
• Apply cryptographic solutions to address customer use cases.
• Ensure robust data isolation within shared infrastructure.
• Monitor advancements in security, including authentication and identity management.
• Collaborate with peers to embed security features in new customer offerings.
• Drive vulnerability management efforts in partnership with the InfoSec team.
• Leverage AI-driven tools to automate security workflows.
• Mentor and coach other engineers in security-first development.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of Java internals and JVM memory management.
• Experience in designing scalable authorization systems (RBAC/ABAC models, token validation).
• Solid comprehension of distributed systems security.
• Knowledge of edge identity protocols (OAuth 2.0, SAML).
• Proven track record of using AI to optimize code and debug systems.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and projects.
• Work autonomously and lead distributed teams effectively.
