Overview
Elastic is seeking a Principal Software Developer to join the Elasticsearch - Storage Engine team. This fully remote position involves collaborating with a global team to develop core storage and query technologies for observability workloads.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
- Drive initiatives to build industry-leading observability solutions.
- Collaborate with a globally distributed team focused on Elasticsearch's logs and metrics capabilities.
- Implement best practices for clean coding standards and architectural clarity.
- Act as a subject matter expert and mentor within the engineering organization.
- Triage, resolve, and review issues and pull requests within the global community.
- Write idiomatic modern Java code.
Requirements
- Ability to collaborate across functions and transition between various projects seamlessly.
- Strong autonomy in driving decisions and results in a distributed team environment.
- Experience using AI to accelerate development and optimize code.
- Proven techniques to efficiently index, store, and query time-series or logs data.
- Experience with data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Prometheus.
- Strong core Java skills and a deep understanding of concurrency primitives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
