Principal Software Developer - Vector Search - Elasticsearch @Elastic

Overview

Elastic, the Search AI Company, enables customers to find answers in real-time from all their data. They are looking for a Principal Software Developer to join the Elasticsearch - Search team, focused on enhancing vector similarity search functionality within Elasticsearch.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives for enhancing the vector database offering in Elasticsearch.
• Develop new search features, fix bugs, and improve code clarity.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers on vector search capabilities.
• Become an expert on vector similarity in Elasticsearch and enhance this area.
• Engage with community members on issues and pull requests.
• Write idiomatic modern Java.

Requirements

• Experience in implementing techniques in vector similarity and knowledge of algorithms like HNSW and IVF.
• Strong skills in core Java and experience with data structures and concurrency.
• Ability to work autonomously and drive projects from start to finish.
• Collaborative development experience, including giving and receiving feedback.
• Familiarity with storage technologies like Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven track record of using AI for development and debugging.
