Overview
The role involves joining the Platform Engineering Productivity team at Elastic as a Principal Software Engineer. The engineer will help ensure high-quality delivery of Elastic products while making the software development and release processes more efficient across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and improve frameworks, reusable components, and operational guidelines for the software development lifecycle.
- Improve CI infrastructure reliability and efficiency.
- Build and manage systems that produce releasable artifacts.
- Enable ephemeral developer environments.
- Define and enforce release quality gates.
- Develop tooling and infrastructure for product deployment and release.
- Review code to uphold engineering standards, improve performance, and catch defects early.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams on requirements, testing strategies, and delivery goals.
- Drive clear technical communication across teams and projects.
- Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
- Mentor engineers and foster a collaborative culture around code quality and best practices.
Requirements
- Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
- Deep experience in programming languages such as Python, Go, Bash, Java, or Scala.
- Experience with CI/CD systems, GIT, and modern development practices.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and developer platforms (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker).
- Experience designing scalable systems and improving productivity through tooling and automation.
- Hands-on AI fluency and experience integrating LLM APIs into workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for working with a globally distributed team.
