Elastic, the Search AI Company, enables businesses to find answers in real-time using their data. As a Principal Software Engineer within the Platform Engineering Productivity team, the role focuses on enhancing software development processes and ensuring high-quality delivery of Elastic products.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and improve frameworks, reusable components, and operational guidelines for the software development lifecycle.
- Enhance CI infrastructure reliability and efficiency.
- Manage systems that produce releasable artifacts.
- Enable ephemeral developer environments.
- Define and enforce release quality gates.
- Develop tooling and infrastructure for product deployment and release.
- Review code to ensure engineering standards and improve performance.
- Collaborate with teams to align on requirements, testing strategy, and delivery goals.
- Drive clear technical communication across teams and projects.
- Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation for systems and processes.
- Mentor engineers and foster a collaborative culture around code quality and best practices.
Requirements
- Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle including build, package, test, release, and quality strategy.
- Deep experience in programming languages such as Python, Go, Bash, Java, or Scala.
- Experience with CI/CD systems, GIT, and modern development practices.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and developer platforms including Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and major cloud providers.
- Experience designing scalable systems and improving developer productivity.
- Hands-on AI fluency including integrating LLM APIs into workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort in navigating ambiguity and working with a globally distributed team.
