Overview

The role involves joining the Elasticsearch Performance team at Elastic to lead architectural and code-level performance engineering initiatives for Elasticsearch, with a focus on optimizing its performance, predictability, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

• Own core performance engineering initiatives from architecture to production and lead technical design and execution for performance improvements.
• Develop foundational performance models and methodologies for complex, distributed systems.
• Drive optimization strategies and ensure robust performance benchmarks and regression detection.
• Profile and analyze system behavior to identify bottlenecks and facilitate collaboration across teams.
• Mentor and coach other engineers, fostering a culture of performance-aware development.
• Design and build AI-assisted optimization harnesses to streamline profiling and benchmarking.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of Java internals and JVM memory management.
