Overview
The role involves joining the Elasticsearch Performance team at Elastic to lead architectural and code-level performance engineering initiatives for Elasticsearch, with a focus on optimizing its performance, predictability, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Own core performance engineering initiatives from architecture to production and lead technical design and execution for performance improvements.
- Develop foundational performance models and methodologies for complex, distributed systems.
- Drive optimization strategies and ensure robust performance benchmarks and regression detection.
- Profile and analyze system behavior to identify bottlenecks and facilitate collaboration across teams.
- Mentor and coach other engineers, fostering a culture of performance-aware development.
- Design and build AI-assisted optimization harnesses to streamline profiling and benchmarking.
Requirements
- Deep knowledge of Java internals and JVM memory management.
- Proven experience in profiling and optimizing distributed systems with benchmarking tools.
- Solid comprehension of distributed systems architecture and scaling challenges.
