Overview
Elastic is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch Security team, focusing on the architecture and design of Elasticsearch's security features including authentication, authorization, and tenant isolation.
Key Responsibilities
- Own core security initiatives from architecture to production, focusing on critical features delivery.
- Develop foundational security models for intricate features.
- Optimize security performance at scale in distributed systems.
- Apply cryptographic solutions for customer use cases.
- Ensure robust data isolation within shared infrastructure.
- Monitor the latest advancements in security.
- Collaborate with peers to integrate security into new features.
- Manage vulnerability through collaboration with the InfoSec team.
- Leverage AI tools for automated security workflows.
- Mentor other engineers to promote a culture of excellence and security-first development.
Requirements
- Deep knowledge of Java internals and JVM memory management.
- Experience in designing scalable authorization systems, including RBAC/ABAC models.
- Comprehension of distributed systems security concepts.
- Familiarity with edge identity protocols such as OAuth 2.0 and SAML.
- Ability to collaborate across functions and projects.
- Autonomous decision-making skills with strong communication.
