Axios is hiring a Reporter to cover the Toledo, Ohio area as part of its growing local news initiative, dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content.

Key Responsibilities

• Author a daily Axios newsletter that features insights and news relevant to the Toledo audience.
• Have a strong command of the local market and the sourcing necessary to inform busy readers.
• Experiment with and leverage AI for reporting and newsletter production.
• Write conversationally, in Axios' Smart Brevity style.
• Help build Axios Local and influence the product's evolution.

Requirements

• Experience covering news in Toledo and Bowling Green, Ohio.
• Excellent sourcing skills with the ability to create new contacts.
• Ability to break news and develop conceptual scoops.
• Omnivorous curiosity about the local area.
• Creative and innovative ideas for content.
• Ability to inject voice and personality into writing.
• Proven experience in a fast-paced news environment with tight deadlines.
• Desire to become indispensable to local readers and Axios Local.
