Overview
FAO is seeking a highly skilled Systems Monitoring and Learning Specialist to contribute to the transformation of agrifood systems through innovative monitoring approaches and systems change assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement approaches for monitoring systems change aligned with FAO’s strategic frameworks.
- Select and operationalize suitable methods and tools, providing technical support and quality assurance.
- Facilitate learning processes with project teams and partners to interpret data and inform adaptive actions.
- Ensure coherence between monitoring efforts and institutional results reporting.
- Act as a technical focal point on monitoring systems change for internal and external partners.
- Identify and engage with relevant experts, practitioners, and organizations to foster collaboration and collective learning.
- Organize and contribute to expert consultations, technical exchanges, and capacity-building activities.
- Synthesize insights from partner work to inform FAO’s practices and strategies.
- Document lessons learned, emerging practices, and insights from monitoring activities.
- Collaborate with FAO’s communication team to develop stories of change, case studies, and knowledge products that showcase systems transformation.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in public policy, social science, economics, data science, or related fields; Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in systems-level monitoring, evaluation, or learning in policy or program contexts.
- Strong knowledge of systems approaches within agrifood systems.
- Working knowledge of English (Level C).
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing monitoring frameworks with a systems perspective.
- Results-oriented with excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships.
- Deep understanding of systems approaches and change monitoring.
- Experience with qualitative research methods and adaptive management processes.
