Overview
This program offers an opportunity for qualified candidates to work as a Research Officer (World Migration Report) at IOM Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, contributing to the flagship publication that provides insights into global migration trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of the World Migration Report by supporting the editorial team, drafting sections, and conducting data checks.
- Enhance WMR digital tools by contributing to updates of the WMR interactive platform.
- Support global dissemination and outreach through webpage updates, social media content, and event assistance.
- Strengthen knowledge management by supporting the development of online tools and webinars.
- Provide technical guidance to regional and country offices on migration research outputs.
- Produce high-quality research materials including reports and articles.
- Facilitate internal learning through knowledge-sharing activities to strengthen research capacities.
- Undertake duty travel as required for WMR promotion and dissemination.
Requirements
Education
- Master’s degree in Migration Studies, International Relations, Development Studies, Humanitarian Affairs, Political Science, or related fields with two years of experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree with four years of experience.
Experience
- Experience writing migration-related papers and conducting migration research.
- Ability to explain complex migration data and collaborate with diverse teams.
Skills
- Excellent research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Strong drafting abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and under tight timelines.
- Understanding of migration issues across geographic contexts.
- Good computer literacy.
Languages
- Fluency in English required; working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an advantage.
