Overview
The Safety & Security Manager leads all security systems in Nigeria, focusing on humanitarian operations in the Northeast.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising senior leadership on security matters
- Developing and implementing security policies and procedures
- Supporting program teams to integrate security into operations
- Training and mentoring field security staff
- Coordinating with global teams and external stakeholders (UNDSS, NGOs, embassies)
- Monitoring the security environment, especially in Northeast Nigeria
- Producing analytical reports and weekly security briefs
- Providing real-time advice to leadership and field teams
- Developing and implementing Security Management Plans
- Overseeing evacuation and hibernation procedures
- Conducting risk and security assessments
- Ensuring availability and proper use of security equipment
- Managing incident reporting and tracking systems
- Organizing crisis simulations and safety drills
- Recruiting, training, and supervising security personnel
- Engaging in inter-agency security coordination
- Promoting collaboration on security strategies
- Ensuring accountability to beneficiaries and adherence to international standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- 3–5 years of field experience in safety and security (NGO/humanitarian context)
- Experience designing and managing security systems
- Strong understanding of complex emergencies
- Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and within diverse teams
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
