Overview

The Safety & Security Manager leads all security systems in Nigeria, focusing on humanitarian operations in the Northeast.

Key Responsibilities

• Advising senior leadership on security matters
• Developing and implementing security policies and procedures
• Supporting program teams to integrate security into operations
• Training and mentoring field security staff
• Coordinating with global teams and external stakeholders (UNDSS, NGOs, embassies)
• Monitoring the security environment, especially in Northeast Nigeria
• Producing analytical reports and weekly security briefs
• Providing real-time advice to leadership and field teams
• Developing and implementing Security Management Plans
• Overseeing evacuation and hibernation procedures
• Conducting risk and security assessments
• Ensuring availability and proper use of security equipment
• Managing incident reporting and tracking systems
• Organizing crisis simulations and safety drills
• Recruiting, training, and supervising security personnel
• Engaging in inter-agency security coordination
• Promoting collaboration on security strategies
• Ensuring accountability to beneficiaries and adherence to international standards

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• 3–5 years of field experience in safety and security (NGO/humanitarian context)
• Experience designing and managing security systems
• Strong understanding of complex emergencies
• Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Ability to work independently and within diverse teams
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
