Overview
The Digital Twin Platform team at Instacart is focused on understanding real-time inventory on store shelves. The team manages end-to-end data supply chains, including data ingestion and integration, and aims to enhance shelf intelligence through its Android applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own Android applications for the Digital Twin Platform, supporting Connected Stores initiatives.
- Act as a technical leader for Android development, setting architectural direction and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement Android solutions that enhance real-time shelf intelligence.
- Navigate a fast-paced environment, balancing long-term plans with the need for rapid iterations.
- Define Android engineering practices for the Digital Twin Platform as the needs of the organization evolve.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional Android development experience using Kotlin and/or Java.
- Deep expertise in Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and modern architecture patterns.
- Experience in designing and building Android applications from the ground up.
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating across engineering teams.
- Ability to work in ambiguous and fast-paced settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Android applications in enterprise contexts or hardware integrations.
- Familiarity with Connected Stores technology and retail hardware platforms.
- Experience with Bluetooth, NFC, and camera APIs on Android devices.
- Background in data-intensive applications or logistics systems.
- Desire to expand beyond a purely Android-focused scope.
