Senior Data Engineer II, Finance @Instacart

Overview

Instacart is transforming the grocery industry by providing essential grocery delivery services. The company is looking for a Senior Data Engineer II who will play a key role in the Finance Data Engineering team, working closely with various financial departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with finance, accounting, billing, and revenue teams to create self-serve and scalable data solutions.
• Mentor other team members and promote engineering excellence across the organization.
• Manage initiatives from design to execution within a small team, maintaining ownership and autonomy.
• Drive organization-wide initiatives to shape the financial data vision and roadmap.
• Own critical data integration pipelines and models to ensure accurate and reliable financial reporting.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in a Data/Software Engineering role, focusing on data pipelines, particularly in finance.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-based data warehouses like Snowflake, Redshift, and BigQuery.
• Proficient in data infrastructure technologies including Python, Airflow, Spark, Iceberg, and Delta Lake.
• Expertise in data modeling with a focus on financial data.
• Proficient in SQL and dbt (Data Build Tool).
• Experience in building complex ETL/ELT pipelines for accounting and billing purposes.
• Familiarity with data immutability, auditability, and slowly changing dimensions.
• Adept in cross-functional communication to gather requirements and design datasets.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with SOX controlled data systems.
