Senior Detection Engineer II @Instacart

Overview

Instacart's Detection Engineering team is integral to the Security organization, responsible for identifying, surfacing, and responding to threats across a major grocery technology platform. The Senior Detection Engineer II will develop detection logic and collaborate with various teams to ensure comprehensive threat coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, tune, document, and maintain detection logic across multiple log sources including endpoint, cloud, container, and SaaS products.
• Assist in cyber forensic investigations across various log sources.
• Optimize log ingestion pipelines and telemetry collection for actionable security data.
• Design and build SOAR playbooks and automation workflows for streamlined detection triage and response.
• Mentor junior security analysts and detection engineers on threat hunting methodologies and investigation techniques.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in detection engineering, incident response, or offensive security.
• Experience with one or more public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Deep understanding of attacker techniques in zero trust environments.
• Proficient understanding of macOS internals and associated telemetry.
• Experience with detection-as-code workflows including version control and CI/CD pipelines.
• Basic proficiency in Python, Golang, or other programming languages.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., GCFA, GREM, OSCP).
