Senior Developer Experience Advocate @Fivetran

Overview

The role is for a Senior Developer Experience Advocate at Fivetran, specifically within the Developer Experience team at dbt Labs. This position focuses on enhancing developer relations and improving the developer experience across various data tools, leveraging broad knowledge of the data industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build prototypes, reference implementations, and example repositories.
• Create working prototypes that validate product direction and accelerate engineering iteration.
• Build tooling that removes friction from analytics engineering workflows.
• Author technical content for the dbt Developer Blog, guides, and documentation.
• Publish knowledge and best practices on data and analytics engineering.
• Develop enablement resources for internal teams and the dbt Community.
• Represent product area as a community voice across various platforms.
• Collect and synthesize community feedback for product design reviews.
• Identify and flag issues in the developer experience.
• Maintain and triage relevant open-source repositories and community projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a closely related field.
• Hands-on dbt knowledge and practitioner-level fluency.
• Expert public communication in spoken and written contexts.
• Strong data and analytics engineering fundamentals, with comfort in Python and SQL.
• Familiarity with AI and its application in workflows.
• Ability to work autonomously with operational rigor.
• Strong product sense and ability to translate user needs into product feedback.
