Senior Engineering Manager V&V Media @Twilio

Overview

The role involves serving as Twilio’s Senior Engineering Manager for Voice Media. This position requires leading a team to develop the next-generation media processing stack that supports Twilio's Voice services on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of senior engineers in developing Twilio's media processing stack.
• Drive technical architecture decisions for low-latency, high-throughput media systems.
• Collaborate with product and platform teams to define technical roadmaps.
• Establish engineering excellence through code quality standards and testing practices.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on complex media processing challenges.
• Balance technical debt reduction with feature development while maintaining service reliability.
• Build and evolve systems for real-time media processing at scale.
• Own service performance metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with engineering leaders to align media platform capabilities with broader Voice strategy.
• Make key technology stack decisions impacting Twilio's media processing capabilities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering management experience in distributed systems.
• Understanding of Voice/VoIP infrastructure and media handling challenges.
• Strong background in architecting and building backend services at scale.
• Deep understanding of systems design, microservice architecture, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience managing technical tradeoffs between reliability and feature development.
• Track record of delivering critical infrastructure projects with technical complexity.
• Experience using AI tools to improve developer velocity.
• Excellent communication skills for translating complex concepts.
• Experience with real-time communications systems, media processing, or streaming technologies.
