Overview

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch team. The role focuses on enhancing the shared platform functionalities of Elasticsearch to ensure they are user-friendly, performant, maintainable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

• Contributing to significant projects that improve the core infrastructure of Elasticsearch.
• Enhancing developer productivity by automating opportunities and integrating applications into workflows.
• Designing and implementing new horizontally-scalable features and APIs.
• Resolving complex issues, including performance and concurrency challenges.
• Improving the observability of Elasticsearch cloud systems.
• Collaborating openly with the team, users, and other open source projects.
• Supporting support engineers in resolving difficult problems.
• Overseeing operational investigations until performance and stability issues are resolved.

Requirements

• Experience in crafting APIs and understanding tradeoffs.
• Proficiency in algorithms and data structures.
• Strong skills in core Java and familiarity with standard libraries and concurrency constructs.
• Experience with low-level Java aspects such as concurrency and parallelism.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems and practices.
• Experience leading large-scale projects across engineering teams.
• Ability to navigate new challenges and collaborate with others.
• Proven record of using AI to enhance development and optimize code.
• Capacity to work autonomously and communicate transparently with distributed teams.
