The company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch Distributed Systems team, focusing on challenges in scale, performance, and resilience for their Serverless offering.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and operate core pieces of the next-generation Serverless Elasticsearch offering, enhancing user experiences worldwide.
• Improve Elasticsearch components to support concurrent and consistent indexing across multiple machines.
• Maintain the cluster coordination system to optimize performance while ensuring safety and liveness.
• Push the limits of shard, node, and data handling within Elasticsearch.
• Investigate issues related to performance and concurrency, proposing effective solutions.
• Assist support engineers with complex problems.
• Take ownership of operational investigations until issues are resolved.

Requirements

• Deep background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
• Strong core Java skills with knowledge of data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Technical proficiency in algorithms.
• Experience with complex distributed systems, avoiding reliance on off-the-shelf services.
• Ability to build and debug impactful features across multiple machines.
• Project ownership from design to development.
• Track record of using AI to enhance development, debugging, and optimization.
• Collaborative approach, adept at transitioning between projects and teams.
• Ability to work autonomously in a distributed team, using clear communication.
