Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its Elasticsearch - Distributed Systems team. This role focuses on building and operating core components of the next-generation Serverless Elasticsearch offering, enhancing scale, performance, and resilience.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and operate core pieces of the Serverless Elasticsearch offering.
• Improve Elasticsearch components for concurrent and consistent indexing across multiple machines.
• Maintain cluster coordination to ensure high performance despite changing nodes.
• Push the limits on shards, nodes, and data handling.
• Tackle performance or concurrency issues and propose solutions.
• Support engineers with complex problems.
• Own operational investigations to resolve performance or stability issues.

Requirements

• Deep background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
• Strong skills in core Java and familiarity with data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Proficiency in algorithms and complex, highly distributed systems.
• Ability to build and debug features across multiple machines and own projects end-to-end.
• Experience using AI to accelerate development and optimize code.
• Collaborative across functions and projects with autonomous decision-making capabilities.
