The company seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Distributed Systems team, focusing on enhancing Elasticsearch's capabilities in the context of its Serverless offering.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and operate core components of the next-generation Serverless Elasticsearch offering, impacting the customer experience.
• Enhance Elasticsearch components that facilitate concurrent and consistent indexing across multiple machines.
• Maintain the cluster coordination system for high performance, ensuring safety and liveness properties.
• Push limits on the number of shards, nodes, and data handled by Elasticsearch.
• Investigate performance or concurrency issues and propose solutions.
• Support engineers with complex problems and own operational investigations end-to-end.

Requirements

• Deep background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
• Strong skills in core Java and familiarity with data structures and concurrency constructs.
• Technical proficiency in algorithms.
• Experience in complex, highly distributed systems beyond off-the-shelf services.
• Ability to build and debug impactful features across multiple machines.
• Demonstrated ownership of projects from design to deployment.
• Proven track record of using AI to develop, debug, and optimize code.
• Capability to collaborate across functions and adapt to varying priorities.
• Able to work autonomously and drive results in a distributed team environment.
