    Overview

    The role involves leading the Endpoint Protections team at Elastic, which focuses on building visibility, prevention, and machine learning capabilities at the core of Elastic Defend, their endpoint security solution. The position requires managing a globally distributed team and contributing to the development of security technologies across multiple operating systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead, mentor, and grow a world-class engineering team, guiding senior research engineers and managing hiring processes.
    • Own the roadmap and drive delivery, collaborating with product managers to define requirements and ensure timely feature releases.
    • Connect the team's work to the rest of Elastic Security and invest in planning and accountability to enhance detection and protection capabilities.
    • Direct machine learning work, ensuring quality of training data and model development, integrating with the broader Elastic Security strategy.
    • Drive cross-platform protection parity across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
    • Represent the team externally, supporting engineers in presenting research and engaging with customers and partners.

    Requirements

    • People-leadership experience managing senior technical contributors on a globally distributed team, fostering growth and solicitation of feedback.
    • Hands-on experience as a security researcher with knowledge of attacker tactics and software development for customer machines.
    • Operating system internals knowledge in kernel and user mode, with a focus on Windows.
    • Experience in reverse engineering and malware analysis.
    • Strong communication skills for both technical and executive audiences.
    • Ability to work in a distributed, autonomous environment and adapt to evolving team structures.
    • Experience with AI-assisted development tools.
