Senior Manager, Machine Learning @Twilio

Overview

This position is for a Senior Manager, Machine Learning in Twilio’s Conversation Memory team. The role focuses on leveraging Twilio’s extensive data ecosystem to build fundamental platform capabilities for the next generation of conversational AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to define a prioritized ML product roadmap.
• Act as a 'player-coach' by providing hands-on technical expertise and strategic direction.
• Establish a high-performing engineering environment that encourages rapid iterations and experiments.
• Drive process improvements in tooling and infrastructure for optimal performance.
• Stay updated with the ML and AI landscape for potential strategic adoptions.
• Recruit and develop a skilled team of Machine Learning Engineers, setting clear goals and providing feedback.
• Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure ML product success.
• Manage project timelines and risks to ensure delivery of high-quality ML solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in Applied ML or AI, including 3+ years of leading teams.
• Proven track record in defining a technical vision for a large-scale ML platform.
• Expertise in deploying production-grade ML/AI systems, particularly with LLM orchestration.
• Experience with ML Ops and LLM Ops patterns.
• Background in building cloud-based services, particularly on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to mentor and influence others.
