Overview
Trainline is seeking a Senior Operational Finance Manager for a 6-month fixed term contract. This role is crucial within the operational finance function, working in a high-performing team, and reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary operational finance team across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Finance Systems, and Cashbook.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of AP and AR functions, ensuring accurate processing of invoices, payments, collections, and reconciliations.
- Monitor AP and AR KPIs to drive working capital performance and provide insights to the Group Financial Controller.
- Oversee bank and cash reconciliations, maintaining strong governance over cash processes.
- Act as business owner for Trainline's core finance systems, ensuring they are scalable and secure.
- Contribute to month-end close processes and serve as a key contact for internal and external audits.
- Identify and implement process improvements aimed at automation and efficiency.
- Build trusted relationships across Finance, Technology, and the wider business, managing SLAs with internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- Substantial experience managing operational finance functions, especially in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and finance systems.
- Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing finance teams.
- Expertise in AP/AR processes, credit control, and financial governance.
- Experience with ERP environments, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- A process improvement mindset with a focus on automation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
- Ability to manage SLAs and navigate a fast-paced work environment.
- Available at short notice for an interim position.

Location
This is a hybrid role requiring in-office work at least 60% of the time over a 12-week period. The company is based in Edinburgh, UK.
