Overview

The role involves joining Elastic's Security Endpoint Protections team as a Senior Security Research Engineer. The team focuses on building visibility and prevention capabilities for Elastic Defend, their endpoint and SIEM security solution, and collaborates with researchers and engineers to protect users against emerging threats.

Key Responsibilities

• Research emerging attacker techniques and develop protections against them.
• Build and extend endpoint visibility across various platforms, including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
• Develop production code in C/C++ that runs on millions of endpoints.
• Reverse engineer malware and understand evasion techniques to enhance security measures.
• Review customer telemetry and investigate false positives and performance regressions.
• Extend protection parity to macOS and Linux platforms.
• Collaborate with the Elastic Security team across different time zones.
• Lead the team's technical direction and mentor junior engineers.
• Publish research and present at conferences.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in security research and detection methods.
• 6+ years of programming experience in C, C++, and Python.
• Deep knowledge of operating system internals, particularly Windows.
• Experience in reverse engineering and malware analysis.
• Strong collaborative skills and eagerness to learn.
• Proven track record of using AI in development and optimization.
• Ability to work autonomously in a distributed team.
• Passion for protecting data from attacks.
