Senior Security Research Engineer @Elastic

Overview

The role involves working with the Elastic Security Endpoint Protections team, where the Senior Security Research Engineer will research, design, and build visibility and prevention capabilities for Elastic Defend, an endpoint and SIEM security solution. This position offers the opportunity to help secure users against emerging threats by collaborating with a diverse team of researchers, data scientists, and engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Research emerging attacker techniques and develop shipped protections.
• Build and extend endpoint visibility across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
• Develop production code in C/C++ that runs on millions of endpoints.
• Reverse engineer malware and study evasion techniques.
• Review customer telemetry and investigate false positives and performance regressions.
• Extend protection parity across platforms.
• Collaborate with team members across various countries and time zones.
• Lead technical direction and mentorship within the team.
• Publish research and present findings at conferences.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience analyzing attacker tactics and building detection methods.
• 6+ years of development experience in C, C++, and Python.
• Deep knowledge of operating system internals.
• In-depth experience in reverse engineering and malware analysis.
• Ability to anticipate potential evasion techniques.
• Collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn.
• Proven track record of utilizing AI in development and debugging.
• Capability to work autonomously in a distributed team.
• Passion for protecting data from attacks.
