Overview

Affirm is a company focused on reinventing credit to provide honest and friendly financial solutions. The Repayment Scheduling engineering team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Backend development.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team, guiding engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
• Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics.
• Proactively identify and lead the resolution of project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Create and monitor metrics to support the operations and availability of the team’s artifacts.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards.
• Develop talent on the team by providing feedback and guidance and leading by example.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience with backend systems using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Experience developing highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Proficient in defining technical plans for feature or system component delivery with an elegant design.
• Strong ability to make significant changes in a large codebase, with practices enabling safe modifications.
• Ownership of personal growth and feedback from peers and stakeholders.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for global collaboration.
