Senior Software Engineer, Back-end, (Repayment Scheduling) @Affirm

Overview

The Repayment Scheduling engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Backend development, responsible for overseeing payment automation systems that handle up to $40B annually.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals, leading engineers through open-ended problems.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Identify and advocate for solutions to project, process, or business issues.
• Create and monitor metrics for operational and availability support, participating in on-call efforts.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership, improving code reviews and design standards.
• Provide feedback and guidance to develop talent within the team.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
• Experience with highly available distributed systems, technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to define technical plans for delivery of features or system components with elegant and extensible designs.
• Proficient in managing significant changes in large codebases with a suite of tools that ensure safety.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global team.
