Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Card Ledger & Money Movement) @Affirm

Overview

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, allowing consumers to buy now and pay later without hidden fees or compounding interest. The Money Movement & Card Ledger team is seeking a Software Engineer to build tools and systems for managing money movement, bank data integration, and merchant data.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team while leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics in the product development lifecycle.
• Proactively identify and lead in solving project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Create and monitor metrics to support team operations and availability, while participating in on-call efforts.
• Promote a culture of quality and ownership, setting code review and design standards.
• Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in designing, developing, and launching backend systems using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Proven track record with highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience defining a technical plan for significant features or systems.
• Proficiency in making changes to large code bases and developing tools for safe modifications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for global collaboration.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
