Overview
Brex is an intelligent finance platform enabling companies to spend smarter and move faster across over 200 markets. The Counsel, Employment role serves as a legal partner to Brex’s People team, focusing on employment matters affecting the global workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide business-minded legal guidance on employment issues such as performance management, terminations, and employee accommodations.
- Support the development of policies and practices governing Brex employees and contingent workers.
- Manage employment-related complaints, disputes, and regulatory inquiries.
- Assist in managing outside legal counsel on employment matters.
- Identify and recommend solutions for employment-related risks.
- Research employment laws relevant to Brex’s operations in the U.S. and internationally.
- Support training development for managers and employees on employment-related topics.
- Handle legal requests related to employees or contingent workers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in employment law counseling at a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Experience as a legal advisor to People/HR functions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Practical mindset capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented and effective collaboration skills.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Juris Doctor (JD) and active membership in good standing of a U.S. bar.
